Vandeuil :

Vandeuil is a little village in the north east of France, in the département of Marne and the Champagne-Ardenne region. It belongs to the federation of municipalities "Ardre et Vesle".

Chemin des Dames (Plateau in the département of Aisne, battle of WW1) :

In France, the Chemin des Dames (literally, the "ladies' path") runs east and west in the département of Aisne, between in the west, the Route Nationale 2, (Laon to Soissons) and in the east, the D1044 at Corbeny.

On the east end, this narrow plateau forms a headland that overlooks the plains between Laon and Reims. The First World War showed the strategic importance of the plateau.
